Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Kigoma

Journey to Western Tanzania

Your adventure begins with a domestic flight from Dar es Salaam to Kigoma, a charming lakeside town located on the shores of Lake Tanganyika.

Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Tanzania’s western frontier. Spend the afternoon at leisure, soaking in views of the lake while preparing for the adventures ahead.

As the sun sets over Lake Tanganyika, enjoy dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.

Day 2: Kigoma – Mahale Mountains National Park

Into the Heart of Mahale

After breakfast, depart Kigoma by private 4×4 vehicle and begin one of Tanzania’s most scenic journeys.

Travel through traditional villages, rolling hills, palm plantations, and spectacular landscapes stretching along Lake Tanganyika. Along the way, cross the historic Malagarasi River by ferry before continuing toward Mahale.

After breakfast, board a boat back to Mahale Headquarters before beginning the scenic return journey to Kigoma.

Arrive in Kigoma during the late afternoon and enjoy a relaxing evening overlooking Lake Tanganyika.
