Day 1: Arrival in Katavi National Park

Into Western Tanzania’s Wilderness

Your journey begins with a flight from Dar es Salaam to Mpanda, the gateway to western Tanzania. Upon arrival, meet your Bahati Safaris guide and begin a scenic drive toward Katavi National Park.

As you enter the park, the landscape opens into vast plains and seasonal wetlands teeming with wildlife. After park formalities, continue to your camp for lunch and a short rest.

In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive. This introduction to Katavi offers sightings of elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, and plains game gathering around water sources.

As the sun sets, the park glows in golden light — a perfect welcome to the wilderness.
